National Federation of the Visually Impaired (NFVI)

Jatiya Drishti Protibondhi Songstha or National Federation of the Visually Impaired (NFVI) is a non-political, non-profitable voluntary social welfare organization. This organization has been working of the visually impaired people in this country since 1964. This is the only organization in Bangladesh which is being run only by the visually impaired. It has 44 district branches and about 1 lakh visually impaired members. This organization is conducting its activities all over Bangladesh and is working tirelessly to improve the living standards of the helpless visually impaired. This organization provides sewing machines, vans and cash for rehabilitation of the visually impaired, corrugated iron sheet and cash for house building, financial assistance for small businesses, old age allowance for the visually impaired, education allowance for visually impaired students for higher education. The main goal of this organization is to ensure that the visually impaired can become the wealth of the country without being a burden to the society and to change the attitude of the country and the people of the country towards the visually impaired. To that end, the organization is providing scholarships for meritorious visually impaired students for higher education and is working to establish educational tools (Braille books and writing materials), periodicals, libraries and reading rooms for them. As a result of which the visually impaired are putting their signature of achievement in different sectors of the country. They are using computer and internet knowledge to work in tandem with normal sighted people in the country and abroad. Which has brought us many honors.
